In 2022, I was working with animation, creating short videos using a technique called rotoscoping. The process involves taking live-action footage and dividing that footage into individual frames, then drawing over the top of those frames. When you remove the live-action footage, you’re left with the hand drawn animation, reanimating what was once real. I wanted to make something that felt close to the sensation of observing reality; as image and object, mind and body. The process was less about the particular thing I was observing, and more about the feeling of being there to observe it, the feeling of being in the world.

The themes of perception and the nature of human reality are still present in my creative writing practice.
